Part-time Summer HR Assistant

Position Summary

The Summer HR Assistant helps the Human Resources team organize and scan paper records into an electronic filing system. This is a temporary summer position designed for a high school student interested in gaining office and workplace experience. The role involves working carefully with documents, following instructions, and protecting confidential information.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Sort and organize paper documents
  • Scan documents into the computer system using a scanner
  • Check scanned documents to make sure they are clear and complete
  • File electronic documents in the correct folders
  • Help prepare documents for secure disposal (shredding)
  • Follow instructions for handling confidential and personal information
  • Keep work areas organized and neat
  • Assist the HR team with basic office and filing tasks as needed

Qualifications

Required:

  • Currently enrolled in high school or recent high school graduate
  • Work permit
  • Ability to follow instructions and pay close attention to detail
  • Comfortable using basic office equipment (computer, scanner)
  • Responsible, dependable, and willing to learn
  • Ability to handle information privately and respectfully
  • Preferred (but not required):
  • Interest in business, office work, or human resources
  • Basic computer skills (files, folders, typing)

 

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift and move file boxes (up to approximately 25 pounds)
  • Ability to bend, reach, and move around the office as needed

 

  • Physical demands include sitting for extended periods of time while frequently typing, viewing computer screens and use of mouse/keyboard.
  • Operation of office equipment to include but not limited to telephones, printers, copiers, and scanners.
  • Repetitive motion of data entry, hand, finger wrist motion and dexterity.
  • May include filing and handling paperwork may involve reaching, grasping, or bending.
  • Light lifting and carrying of office supplies, files, or boxes (generally under 25 lbs.).
  • Will require walking and standing during the office hours.
  • Good vision for reading and screen use.

Location

  • Beachwood, OH
  • Part-time hours are Monday through Wednesday Friday, 8am – 5pm ET.
